I am a farm girl. I grew up on a farm back in the 60’s that was a little wild, and full of love.
I have always appreciated having land that wasn’t fully manicured. Don’t get me wrong, I love to have my grass cut, my veggies growing and my flowers planted…but I have never for the life of me understood why people need to kill everything in their lawn that isn’t grass.
I work at a garden centre…I see it every day.
I am pretty proactive when it comes to weeds, and by that I mean I pull out the ones that tick me off and I pretty much leave everyone else to do their thing. Last year I found myself wondering why the dandelions were pissing me off growing in my grass.
When really, they are awesome.
They are the first flowers for the bees. You know we don’t have enough bees don’t you?
And they make stuff like this.
Right? I mean who doesn’t love a good infused oil! This makes the most amazing colored oil. I boiled it for about 20 minutes in a double boiler and then let it sit steeping for about three weeks. In hindsight I should have picked a lot more of them when they were blooming.
Because I made this today.
I mean what is not to love about that lotion?
Here is the scoop…
Dandelion has some amazing properties…here are a few:
Dandelion Blossom Massage Oil
“Dandelion has a special affinity for breasts. Regular use of dandelion flower oil promotes deep relaxation of the breast tissues, facilitating the release of held emotions. Applied regularly to the entire breast area, glowing golden dandelion flower oil can strengthen your sense of self worth as well as your immune system. Easily made, this oil is a superb ally for regular breast self-massage, and highly praised by those doing therapeutic breast massage. Dandelion root oil, used along or in conjunction with the flower oil, can help clear minor infections, relieve impacted milk glands, and reduce cysts in the breasts.” Breast Cancer? Breast Health! by Susun Weed
- It helps with achy joints and muscles when massaged into the skin
- Soothing for rough dry skin
- Heals and soothes irritated skin, I am trying it with my eczema
- Has the most amazing color I have ever seen in my life, this counts. Really.
I also added some other amazing ingredients to this lotion, Tamanu oil is fast becoming my favorite nut oil for soothing irritated skin. Coco Butter has such great moisturizing and skin smoothing effect, Glycerin holds in all that moisture…
Calendula oil…because amazing, mix that with the fragrances of Lemongrass and Geranium.
I think I have a winner.
I will do test runs on this lotion this week, I have already seen results with the eczema on my leg…the itching has stopped. It would be miraculous if it went away.
Who knew I would be waiting impatiently for the next time my grass is covered in these little yellow flowers? I need to stock up on my oil for winter 🙂
Come on in today and get yours! Large are $12 and the small size is $8, but I recommend getting a big one…you will love it!
